A native of central Idaho, Layne has always called the 43rd state home. He left the farm to head to the big city graduating from Boise State in 1982. Upon graduation, Layne put roots down in Boise creating a successful financial service business from which he has recently retired. Throughout his life, Layne has had a passion for fishing, a pursuit which has taken him all over the world.
Of all the destinations Layne has traveled, he has called the Henry’s Fork his spiritual home. Having spent the majority of his free time in Island Park since the early 90’s, Layne has been compelled to donate a large amount of volunteer time to Henry’s Fork country, serving on the board of the Henry’s Fork Foundation for 7 years, the last 2 of which he served as Board Chair. Never scared of a challenge, he also served as a member of the Fremont County Planning and Zoning Commission where he was involved with the rewrite of the Fremont County Development Code.
